Fish welfare

The welbeing of our fish comes first. It is our top priority that they are doing well in all respects, be it their health, species-appropriate engagement or their habitat. This also means that in our fish culture we only keep species that feel particularly comfortable in the spring water of our farm.

HEALTHY AND LIVELY FROM AN EARLY AGE

From the moment of birth until they are sold, our fish spend their entire lives in our spring water. They grow up under natural conditions and always have enough space to move freely. Because we attach great importance to promoting the vitality and health of our fish.

COMPANION

Every day, we work to ensure that our trout are comfortable and healthy - this is the only way we can provide a healthy food product. Over a period of up to 6 years, we take care of them around the clock- we view them as part of our family. In our fish culture, the fish hatch from the egg after about 1 to 1.5 months. They feed from the yolk sac on their belly for 2-4 weeks. As soon as this supply is exhausted, they rise to the surface for the first time, fill their air bladder and are fed by us from that moment on. To keep our fish vital and healthy, we also regularly adjust the current to their body size: the smaller the fish, the lower the current has to be. This way, we at Forellen Jobst always give the fish the opportunity to do what they do best - swim. And ultimately, taste really good.
